Momentum Coffee was developed as a branded, experience-driven café that reflects the energy, rhythm, and community of Chicago’s South Loop. The space blends hospitality, technology, and material storytelling to create an environment that feels efficient yet human, supporting customers on the move while encouraging moments of pause and connection.
Experience & Spatial Journey
The customer journey was carefully choreographed to feel intuitive and fluid. Digital menu boards, self-order kiosks, and traditional checkout options were spatially integrated to reduce friction and maintain momentum through the space. Layout decisions were guided by how customers move, wait, order, and collect, transforming routine transactions into a cohesive brand experience.
Brand Expression Through Space
Materiality and lighting were used as experiential tools to express the brand’s identity. Warm woods, fluted metal surfaces, and softly illuminated counters create moments of contrast and glow, reinforcing themes of energy, focus, and renewal. Signage and graphic moments support wayfinding while contributing to the overall atmosphere.
Sustainability & Values
Sustainability considerations were integrated through energy-efficient lighting strategies, responsible material sourcing, and operational support for recycling and compostable packaging, aligning the physical space with the brand’s environmental values.
My Role (Freelance / APMonarch)
Working as a freelance designer with APMonarch, I translated brand intent and operational requirements into spatial layouts and 3D models that supported a seamless customer journey. Through client collaboration and visualization, I helped align equipment integration, service flow, and spatial experience to ensure the design was both functional and expressive.
